2/17/09 sports

It's a new day for the NBA.

The NBA is back, and how about after the All-Star Break to have someone set a record already? Yes, and it's no one else but Magic leader Dwight Howard. Howard put up one of the best stats lines of this year. 45 pts, 19 Rbs, 8 Blks. Howard led his team to win through devastating offense, and unstoppable defense. Kevin Durant put up the highest scoring performance of the night, in a losing effort. Durant scored 47 when the Thunder lost to the Hornets in a 100-98 battle.

Alex Rodriguez stated in a press conference Tuesday that his cousin gave him something known as boli. I have confirmed that this "boli" happens to be Premobolan, one of the substances he tested positive for. Rodriguez stated that he did not know it was a steroid and that he didn't even know if he was using it the right way. Yankees GM Brian Cashman stated, "He shouldn't have gone up there for this press conference. He made no sense, and is stating new things every time."

In the Football world, Matthew Stafford is suggested as the #1 pick for the Lions in most mock drafts. The Lions haven't eliminated the possibility of drafting Mark Sanchez, the star QB for USC. The Saints have cut Deuce McAllister stating that "it's really a chance for him to see other teams, winning teams, and make an impact."

In hockey, Claude Lemieux has finally got something to put on his stat line, and it isn't a goal or an assist, it's 15 PIM in Tuesday night's game. Lemieux got in a fight, and later recieved a misconduct. Claude is showing his old personality that he had with the Avalanche and the Devils. Steven Stamkos' hat trick was spoiled as the Lightning lost to the Blackhawks 5-3.

Mike Leach may be fired for failure to sign a contract? Yes, Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach may be fired for not signing an extension. The Red Raiders were one of the top teams in all of last year's College Football.

Purdue upsets Michigan State at home, making it their first home win vs. a top 5 team at home since 1992. New Jersey Tech loses again, making them 1-25, their only win against the team they lost to Tuesday night, Bryant University.
