2/16/09 sports

The Jaguars decided it was time. Longtime veteran running back Fred Taylor has been released from Jacksonville. Taylor is aiming a new, winning team. The Lions have a couple QB options and are left thinking, is Stafford our final choice?

In our baseball world, steroid talk is alive after Alex Rodriguez tested positive in 2003. After Curt Schilling, another big name opens his mouth. David Ortiz states that should a player test positive, they should be banned for one year. Ortiz claims that testing players is a better way to find out than sending them to court.

Suns guard Jason Richardson has been arrested for driving 55 mph over the limit. He was also charged for an unrestrained 3-year old child in the back seat, the child being Richardson's son. The Suns organization claims the possibility of Stoudemire and O'Neal being traded is in decline. Suns coach Alvin Dentry believes Stoudemire and O'Neal will be needed in the playoff push.

Penguins head coach Dan Bylsma loses in the shootout in his first game as the coach of the Pens to the New York Islanders. The "Rangers Recession" continues as they lose to the St. Louis Blues. The Rangers are hoping to get middle-placed seed in the playoffs, but for now, they have a problem.

College Basketball upsets seem like they happen everyday, you just can't predict what top team is going to be the victim of one though. This time, the #1 ranked UConn Huskies get upset by #4 ranked Pittsburgh Panthers. This is the first time in school history that the Panthers defeat a top-ranked team.
